ACE AND RUFORUM IMPLEMENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM - LUANAR RECEIVES 9 PROFESSORS

The Africa Center of Excellence in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science at LUANAR (AquaFish ACE), in partnership with RUFORUM earlier this month welcomed visiting professors from Nigeria, Tanzania, Sudan and Kenya. The visit is part of the Aquafish Staff Exchange Program as LUANAR aims to improve Postgraduate programs.
Among other things, the professors will be involved in lectures and conduct seminars while on campus. The professors will teach the students for a two-week period, starting 8th to 19th January 2018.
In welcoming the visitors, Director for AquaFish Center, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, shared AquaFish’s vision which is to remain innovative in its approach to business by improving coordination for all courses that addresses all the concerns and challenges along fish value chain. He encouraged all visiting professors to interact more with lecturers in the five assigned AquaFish departments.
Professor Kaunda further said that this is a platform for future collaboration and access to networks. He further suggested that the professors need to ensure that soft skills are passed on to postgraduate students in the two-week stay in Malawi.
The AquaFish Center of Excellence has five departments namely, Agribusiness Management, Agriculture Extension, Agriculture and Applied Economics, Aquaculture and Fisheries Science, and Food Science and Technology.
