APA is meant to support local and international postgraduate students in agricultural and applied economics, extension, innovation and development, as well as applied data science with the aim of transforming and advancing knowledge and skills in the agricultural sector. The following are the programmes.



PhD in Extension, Innovation and Development

This is a prestigious three-year program by research offered at the Development Studies under Extension Department. However, students are asked to audit some MSc courses relevant to their study focus areas.

PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics

This is a prestigious three-year taught program offered under the faculty of Development Studies at the Economics Department. In the first year, students concentrate on course work, while in second and third year the focus is research.

MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics

APA strives to provide evidence-based and actionable policy recommendations on critical issues affecting agri-food systems by collaborating with leading local and international universities and other practitioners.



MSc in Extension, Innovation and Development

APA generates high quality research and knowledge products that facilitate policy engagement, calibration, and dialogue at local and international levels, leveraging different expertise within the University and like-minded stakeholders to influence policy decision-making in the agricultural sector

MSc in Applied Data Science

Data science combines math and statistics, specialized programming, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with specific subject matter expertise to uncover actionable insights hidden in an organization's data. These insights can be used to guide decision making and strategic planning.
