Clara Kamlomo, a fourth-year Bachelor of Arts student in Social Work and Youth Development at LUANAR, is attending the G20 Agriculture Working Group sessions, actively participating under Priority Area 2: Empowering Youth and Women in Agrifood Systems.
At today’s session, Kamlomo is set to share her inspiring journey of advancing land access for women and youth – two groups that continue to face barriers in agricultural development. Drawing from her own experiences, she will highlight practical actions she has taken to support land acquisition efforts on the ground.
At a young age, Kamlomo successfully secured 10 acres of land and launched her own farming venture. Her story not only reflects resilience and determination but also serves as a beacon of possibility for young women across Malawi and beyond.
Representing LUANAR and Malawi at the G20 meeting, Kamlomo’s participation underscores the vital role that young people, especially from academic institutions, can play in shaping inclusive and sustainable food systems.
The G20 (Group of Twenty) is an international forum of governments and central bank governors from 19 countries and the European Union. It was established in 1999 to enhance economic cooperation among the world’s major economies, particularly in response to financial crises.
Clara Kamlomo’s voice at the G20 highlights the urgent need for greater investment in youth and women within agrifood systems – and affirms that with opportunity and support, young leaders from institutions like LUANAR are ready to drive change at the highest levels.
