LUANAR had the honour of welcoming Mr. Bhekimpilo Khanye, the Country Director for Save the Children Malawi, along with his delegation, to the Bunda Campus. The visit marked a significant step in strengthening the growing partnership between the two institutions.
The team was received by LUANAR’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Kaunda, who extended a warm welcome and shared the university’s commitment to transformative education and research. A detailed presentation was delivered to highlight LUANAR’s mission, diverse academic programs, and key research priorities aligned with Malawi’s national development goals.
In his remarks, Mr. Khanye underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing contemporary challenges, identifying LUANAR as a strategic partner in advancing child-focused initiatives. The delegation also presented an overview of Save the Children’s work in Malawi, showcasing their efforts in child rights, education, health, and community development.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of LUANAR’s core facilities, giving the delegation a firsthand view of the university’s capacity to deliver impact through hands-on training and research. Key stops included the teaching complexes, laboratories, the animal science farm, and the fish farm.
This engagement followed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between LUANAR and Save the Children International. The agreement lays a foundation for joint initiatives in areas such as education, climate justice, poverty reduction, and food security. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to delivering sustainable solutions that uplift children and communities throughout Malawi.
