Position : VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: ADJUNCT STAFF


Job Description

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to be considered for various teaching and technician positions tenable at the University on part-time basis.

Successful candidates will be required to teach and assess students in any one or more courses listed below. Interested applicants must therefore indicate a maximum of 3 courses they may wish to be considered to teach and assess students.

Requirements

  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with a Credit in a field directly relevant to the course(s) being applied for, obtained from a reputable University.
    • Candidates with at least an MSc or currently pursuing an MSc in a closely related field will have an added advantage.
    • Applicants must have at least two years of experience, preferably in teaching.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Adjunct staff are engaged for the delivery of courses. Their duties and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

    • Developing and reviewing teaching and learning materials.
    • Delivering tutorials, seminars, and discussion sessions using different modes of delivery.
    • Providing academic guidance and mentorship to students to enhance learning outcomes.
    • Assisting in assessing students’ coursework, assignments, and continuous assessments.
    • Assisting in the design and moderation of assessment tools, including tests and examination papers.
    • Invigilating examinations and ensuring integrity in all assessment processes.
    • Supervise students research projects/dissertations.
    • Maintaining records of student performance and participation for reporting purposes.


    Terms of Engagement
    Successful candidates will be engaged on a part-time basis for an initial period of one academic year, which may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance.

    Remuneration shall be based on the actual number of hours worked, with reimbursement of fuel costs incurred in the course of duty provided in accordance with University policies applicable to part-time engagement.
